Ha Giang intensifies cooperation with China’s Wenshan prefecture

Ha Giang (VNA) – A delegation from the Party Committee of Wenshanprefecture in China’s Yunnan province led by its Secretary Tong Zhiyun paid aworking visit to the northern mountainous province of Ha Giang on May 7-8, aimingto seek more opportunities to enhance bilateral ties.

Welcoming thedelegation, Secretary of Ha Giang’s Party Committee Trieu Tai Vinh said that HaGiang, as the northern gateway of Vietnam, has a borderline of over 270 km withChina.

Over the past few years,the relationship between Ha Giang province and Wenshan prefecture has developedin a more comprehensive and practical manner. The two sides opened the Xin Man-Dulongborder gate pair, and have ensured sound border management and protection.

Total import-exportturnover through the Vietnamese locality’s border gates exceeded 384 millionUSD in 2018 and reached 77 million USD in the first quarter of this year, Vinhshared.

He expressed his hopethat the two sides’ authorities will soon finish procedures to open the Na Lapath for customs clearance at the Thanh Thuy-Tianbao international border gatepair.

He asked both sides toimprove infrastructure and complete legal procedures to attract more enterprisesto participate in import-export activities through the Xin Man-Dulong bordergate pair; implement a cooperation agreement on synchronous labour management;and strive to develop the Thanh Thuy-Tianbao border gate pair into a bridge connectingVietnamese and Chinese localities.

For his part, Tong proposedthat authorities on both sides step up the upgrade of infrastructure at XinMan-Dulong and Thanh Thuy-Tianbao border gate pairs.

He suggested the twosides cooperate in developing transport infrastructure, training humanresources, and expand collaboration in producing, processing and importing HaGiang’s agricultural and pharmaceutical products, and create favourableconditions for Wenshan prefecture’s enterprises to do business and investmentin Ha Giang. –VNA
