Ha Giang to build 293 reservoirs by 2020

The northernmost province of Ha Giang have set the goal of building 293 water storage reservoirs by 2020 to serve local people’s need for water for daily use.

The combinedvolume of these reservoirs will be enough to supply water for allresidents in four districts - Quan Ba, Yen Minh, Dong Van and Meo Vac -in the water-scarce Dong Van Karst Plateau.

Thecosts of building these reservoirs will come from the Stage budget, thelocal budget and loans from international financial organisations likethe World Bank and the Asian Development Bank.

Since 2007, 84 reservoirs with a combined volume of 406,000 cu.m havebeen put in operation or are being under construction in the fourdistricts. They are capable of supplying water for 52,522 people or 20.6percent of the four districts’ combined population.

The number of reservoirs will be raised to 99 reservoirs by 2017 and 293 by 2020.

The four districts have a total area of 2,350 sq.km and are home to 17 ethnic minority groups.-VNA

Sea turtle nests on Lam Dong's Hon Cau island for sixth time this year

Since the beginning of 2026, sea turtles have nested six times at three beaches on Hon Cau island, namely Nhat, Mui Tau and Ba Hon. Three nests were left undisturbed at safe locations, while another three were relocated to the incubation area for protection, involving a total of 246 eggs.

Administrative reform shifts focus to practical results

Agencies largely kept the receipt, processing and return of administrative results running continuously, openly and transparently, with citizens and firms at the centre of public service delivery. They also kept upgrading, linking and using the databases serving administrative processing, carried out tasks under the 100-day Action Plan for the Politburo's Resolution 57-NQ/TW, and rolled out new initiatives and models to lift service quality.

Ho Chi Minh City currently has 117 licensed foreign NGOs operating in areas including healthcare, education, social protection and community development.
