Ha Giang to host Mong ethnic cultural festival

The second Mong Ethnic Cultural Festival will be held in the northern mountainous province of Ha Giang in mid-November.

Ha Giang (VNA) - The second Mong Ethnic Cultural Festival will be held in the northern mountainous province of Ha Giang in mid-November.

The festival will be organised by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in collaboration with the provincial People’s Committee.

The event will honour the rich culture of the ethnic group, in order to preserve and promote their cultural identity within Vietnam’s unified and diverse culture, that counts 54 different ethnic groups, said Huynh Vinh Ai, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

Fourteen provinces nationwide with a large number of Mong people will also participate in the festival.

Vietnam has about 800,000 Mong people, one of the country’s largest ethnic minorities. Most Mong live in mountainous areas at a height of 700 metres to 1,500 metres above sea level in the north.-VNA

Vietnam, Laos ink 2026–2030 culture-tourism cooperation plan

Both sides pointed to substantive, positive outcomes in cultural and tourism cooperation from 2021-2025, citing successful cultural weeks in each country, cultural and art activities marking important occasions of the two Parties and countries, and the effective delivery of agreements reached by leaders that further fostered the special Vietnam–Laos relationship.
