Ha Nam (VNA) – The People’s Committee of the northern province of Ha Nam and the Ministry of Industry and Trade’s Trade Promotion Agency on June 26 held a working session with foreign diplomatic representatives and trade promotion organisations in Vietnam.

Vu Ba Phu, head of the agency, said this is a chance for foreign diplomatic and trade offices to seek partnership with Vietnamese firms and local businesses of Ha Nam in particular.

Vice Chairman of the committee Truong Quoc Huy introduced the socio-economic characteristics and development of Ha Nam, as well as strengths of the locality in hi-tech agriculture, healthcare, human resources development and tourism.

With a convenient transport system and comprehensive investment of infrastructure in industrial parks, Ha Nam has great potential for industrial development, he said.

In recent years, the province has been one of the leading localities in investment attraction. Currently, it hosts 888 projects, including 261 foreign-invested ones.

The province’s gross regional domestic product (GRDP) expands 13.5 percent on average per year, with per capita income in 2018 reaching nearly 2,500 USD, noted Huy, adding that the economic structure of Ha Nam has been transformed with higher contributions of industry-construction sector and lower rate of agriculture.

The official pledged that the local administration will create as mooth, transparent and sustainable business environment for investors.

At the working session, participants discussed measures to remove difficulties in import-export activities. Some firms expressed their hope for support from foreign diplomatic and trade agencies in seeking market and connecting with foreign partners.-VNA
