Ha Nam should look to make full use of its advantages in transport, service industry, human resources, and industrial land, when making its five-year development plan, to achieve a sustainable growth.

Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung advised the northern province during his working session with the locality’s authorities on May 9.

He hailed Ha Nam for registering a GDP growth rate of 13.54 percent and a 23.7 percent rise in industrial production value in 2009 despite enormous difficulties caused by the global economic crisis.

However, the PM pointed out that a small economic scale and a low per capita income are challenging Ha Nam on the path to grow fast.

To overcome these challenges, the province should rescreen its agriculture development plan to direct the sector to an efficient commodity-production model, PM Dung said.

He also suggested that the province should concentrate on promoting the development of hi-tech industries, cement industry and eco-tourism, improving the quality of human resources, and speeding up administrative reforms.

This year, Ha Nam should work to post a GDP growth rate of over 14 percent, PM Dung said.

During the visit to Ha Nam , PM Dung inspected work at the Tam Chuc-Ba Sao tourism zone./.
