National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung has urged central Ha Tinh province to implement well the Resolutions of the Party congresses and complete its socio-economic development plan in 2013 so as to become an industrial province in the time to come.

Hung held a working session with the province’s leaders on February 24 as part of his tour to the northern central region.

The NA leader asked local authorities to continue promoting the power of unity in the Party committee, and mobilise all resources to implement key projects.

In particular, he stressed the importance of collecting people’s opinions on the draft amendments to the 1992 Constitution.

Hung said that Ha Tinh province needs to create favourable conditions for all the people to make their suggestions in any means of their choice, such as by letters or through the mass media.

At the meeting, Secretary of the provincial Party Committee Nguyen Thanh Binh said that despite the economic difficulties of the world and Vietnam in 2012, Ha Tinh implemented many policies to support and encourage business and production so that it still achieved its socio-economic targets. The province’s economic growth rate last year was 14 percent, with total budget revenue of 4.1 trillion VND and GDP per capita of 19.6 million VND per annum.

Ha Tinh is now listed in the country’s top provinces in building new rural areas with creative, drastic and effective methods. Party and political system building saw positive changes. The province also paid much attention to ensure a happy and warm Lunar New Year festival for local people, especially those in ethnic minorities and remote areas, Binh said.

During his visit, the NA Chairman also inspected the progress of the 2.4 trillion-VND project to upgrade and expand the South Ben Thuy bridge section on National Highway 1A. The project is expected to meet the increasing demand of transportation, and reduce traffic jams and accidents.-VNA
