Hoang Son Trang from the northern port city of Hai Phong was crowned the winner of K-pop Contest 2013 after the final in Hanoi’s Au Co Centre on August 18.

Trang who is a member of the dance group Cuncun-Bigtoe, performed the song ‘I’ll Show You’ by the Republic of Korean singer Ailee.

Her performance was judged to be the best of the 15 heard and he was named the winner of the top prize and claimed a one-year scholarship at Jeonju University in the RoK.

The second prize went to Nguyen Dieu Thuy who won a six-month scholarship.

The third prizes went to Le Thuy Yen Trinh and Pham Thi Mai, who will receive three-month scholarships.

The winners of Kpop Contest 2011 went on to be runners-up at the K-pop World Festival in the RoK. Now they tour around K-pop events in Vietnam with a devoted following.

The annual K-pop Contest is held by the Korea Cultural Centre and Korea Tourism Organisation in Vietnam .
This year’s contest attracted more than 300 candidates from all over the country.-VNA
