Hanif Salim assumes post of Consul General of Indonesia in HCM City

Hanif Salim has officially assumed the post of Consul General of Indonesia in Ho Chi Minh City after he received a written approval from the Vietnamese Foreign Ministry on March 9.
Hano​i (VNA) – Hanif Salim has officially assumed thepost of Consul General of Indonesia in Ho Chi Minh City after he received awritten approval from the Vietnamese Foreign Ministry on March 9.

The approval presentation was held in Hanoi withthe participation of Indonesian Ambassador to Vietnam Ibnu Hadi andrepresentatives of the Indonesian Embassy in Vietnam and the Consulate Generalin HCM City.

In his speech, Hanif Salim expressed his honourto be Consul General of Indonesia in HCM City, the most populous city and animportant economic hub of Vietnam.

He voiced his wish to cooperate closely withVietnam and business circles so as to boost the two countries’ cooperation,especially in trade, tourism and investment.

Hanif Salim began working at the Ministry ofForeign Affairs of Indonesia in 1992. Before he was appointed Consul General inHCM City by the country’s Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi on January 12, 2018,he was Director of Political Research at the National Resilience Institute ofIndonesia.-VNA

According to historical records, the area once served as an operational base for units of Regiments 609, 66, 24 and 320, as well as staff and logistics agencies of the Central Highlands front (B3) during the 1966–1969 period.
