The Hanoi People’s Committee Chairman Nguyen The Thao has asked transport and other sectors to speed up reorganising the inter-provincial transport system and add more stations outside Ring Road III.

Thao told a municipal meeting last week that priority would be given to new outskirt bus stations in areas with many cars, such as routes passing the Thang Long and Thanh Tri bridges and National Highway 32.

Inter-provincial transport systems are being restructured and coaches are being moved to new locations on their routes.

Regarding stations operating illegally, some that temporarily met requirements could be considered for licenses to meet demand and ensure security and order.

The chairman also urged authorities to ensure people’s rights to travel, the right of transport enterprises and strictly handle unlicensed buses and illegal stops. All of the capital’s bus stations are presently overloaded due to the doubling of the population in recent years.

My Dinh Stations was designed for 900 coach trips daily on an area of 3.5ha. However, the number of trips is now 1,250 daily on an area of 1.98ha. The city has reorganised some route from My Dinh Station to other stations to ease the station’s overload.-VNA
