Hanoi authorities held a pre-Tet meeting with foreign ambassadors and representatives of diplomatic missions and international organisations on Feb. 5.

President of the Hanoi People’s Committee Nguyen The Thao thanked the diplomats for their friendship and valuable cooperation with the capital city over the past time and hoped they would continue to join hands in building a more civilized and modern Hanoi.

Moroccan Ambassador El Houcine Fardani, on behalf of the foreign diplomats, congratulated Vietnam on successfully deploying a series of socio-economic development projects to become one of the economies registering the highest growth rate in the world.

These achievements have helped Vietnam strengthen the international community’s trust, the ambassador said, stressing that the country has played an active role in both the regional and international arenas.

He said he believed that Vietnam will fulfil its ASEAN Chair in 2010 with successes and wished the Vietnamese people peace, prosperity, happiness and success.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Gia Khiem was present at the function./.
