A Hanoi delegation led by Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Nguyen The Thao is on a three-day visit to Malaysia to boost planning cooperation between the two countries.

During its stay in Malaysia from Nov. 3-5, the delegation worked with the Kuala Lumpur leaders and visited Malaysia ’s new administrative capital of Putrajaya.

On Nov. 4, the delegation called at the Vietnamese Embassy and other representative agencies in Malaysia . The Hanoi mayor briefed the Vietnamese officials about the city’s socio-economic development situation after over one year of expansion.

He said that the visit aims to learn Malaysia’s experiences in urban planning and development, waste treatment, environmental protection, infrastructure building and tourism promotion in the context of the economic recession.

At present, the Vietnamese government is planning to build a new administrative centre in Ba Vi district like Malaysia’s Putrajaya model, he said, adding that to build a civilised, peaceful and friendly capital, authorised agencies not only focus on city planning and building but also pay attention to people’s life.

On the occasion, the Hanoi mayor officially invited the Malaysian side to attend the 1,000 th anniversary of the founding of Thang Long-Hanoi, a specially important event of Hanoi in particular and the Vietnamese nation in general, scheduled for October 2010./.
