A seminar to discuss how to promote coordination between law enforcement agencies, ministries and sectors of Vietnam to ensure maritime security and safety as well as enhance their ability in solving arising issues in search and rescue work at sea opened in Hanoi on March 10.

Organised by the Coast Guard High Command in conjunction with the Defence Threat Reduction Agency of the US, the 5-day event is attended by representatives from the Ministries of Defence, Public Security, Foreign Affairs, and Transport and the General Department of Customs.

The seminar, the second of its kind, creates a good chance for participants to exchange experience in sea management and surveillance.

The organisation of such a seminar is necessary to meet the rising requirements in ensuring marine safety and security, they said.-VNA
