Hanoi (VNA) – Chairman of Hanoi People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung has suggested that China’s Guangdong province encourage more enterprises in Guangdong and other Chinese localities to invest in Hanoi in the coming time.

At a meeting with Vice Governor of Guangdong province Ouyang Weimin in Hanoi on August 27, Chung said two-way trade between Hanoi and the Chinese locality has increased year by year, but their cooperation in many fields has not matched both sides’ potential.

Chung expressed his hope that the Guangdong authority will create favourable conditions for Hanoi’s officials to learn from the locality’s development experience, especially its success in building large-scale economy, preventing traffic jam, and minimizing motorbikes in urban areas.

For his part, Ouyang Weimin endorsed proposals of Chairman Chung, stressing the great potential for the two localities to expand trade bond.

He called on the two sides to continue promoting bilateral cooperative ties in the coming time, especially in trade, hi-technology, finance, education and health care.

Guangdong is the only Chinese locality that has a cooperation mechanism with ministries, sectors and localities of Vietnam. In 2018, the trade turnover between Vietnam and Guangdong hit 37.16 billion USD, up 34.2 percent, accounting for 25.1 percent of the Vietnam-China trade turnover.-VNA
