Hanoi is keen to learn from the experience of the Japanese prefecture of Fukuoka in environmental protection, urban planning and management.

Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Nguyen The Thao made this statement at a reception to a delegation of Fukuoka officials led by Deputy Mayor Takenori Yamasaki in Hanoi on March 2.

Chairman Thao said Hanoi needed support in technologies and management skills which are strengths of Japan in general and Fukuoka in particular, and for this reason, Hanoi will create favourable conditions for small and medium-sized enterprises from Fukuoka to invest in the city.

Takenori Yamasaki said that in the near future, Fukuoka would send experts to Hanoi to help train the city’s citizens in awareness of environmental protection under the environment cooperation agreement signed in Fukuoka in 2010.

In cultural and educational fields, the two sides agreed that annual exchanges for the two localities’ youth will be held to promote bilateral friendship and cooperation.

Last year, on the occasion of the 1000 th anniversary of Thang Long-Hanoi, “Fukuoka Cultural Days in Hanoi” was held successfully./.
