Paintings by Hanoi girl Phan Huong Giang has won the Grand Prix Award at the Mitsubishi Asian Children's Enikki Festa painting contest.

The nine-year-old pupil from Khuong Thuong Primary School created a set of five drawings focusing on the theme of environmental protection.

Hosted by the Mitsubishi Public Affairs Committee, the Asian Pacific Federation of UNESCO Clubs and Associations, and the National Federation of UNESCO Associations in Japan, the annual contest targets school children aged 6-12.

The contest aims to promote the understanding of Asian people's daily life through illustrated diaries – or enikki in Japanese.

This year's event focuses on the theme Here is My Life. Contestants from 24 nations submitted about 71,000 paintings representing their daily life and culture by means of a five-page illustrated diary. -VNA
