Hanoi (VNA) –
Hanoi wants to learn experience from Denmark in addressing environmental pollution, traffic jams, and clean water shortages.

Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung expressed his wish at a meeting with Secretary of State of the Danish Ministry of Energy, Utilities and Climate (MEUC) Thomas Egebo in Hanoi on September 20.

Chung said in the near future, Hanoi will implement three important targets, including high-quality human resources, infrastructure investment, and administrative reform.

Egebo said Denmark will chair a European conference on clean energy and meetings on urban matters in May 2018.

The Danish Embassy in Vietnam is organising a workshop on sustainable solutions for cities in December 2017, he added, inviting Hanoi to send representatives to these events.

Earlier a ceremony was held in Hanoi on September 20 to announce the energy outlook report for Vietnam in 2017.

While addressing the event, Egebo affirmed that Denmark is willing to share its experience in technologies and products with Vietnam to help the country achieve its goals in energy and sustainable growth.

The report is part of cooperation outcomes the Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Trade and the MEUC within the framework of the Low Carbon Transition in Energy Efficiency project funded by the Danish Government.

Built on updated forecasts on macro-economic growth as well as energy and power demands in Vietnam, the report gives policy recommendations for the development of electricity and low-carbon emission energy by using more renewable energy and promoting energy efficiency.

It also looks into opportunities and challenges to Vietnam’s sustainable energy development and energy security. -VNA
