Hanoi marks founding of HCM Young Pioneers’ Brigade

Speaking at the ceremony, President of the Council of the HYPB Hanoi Bach Lien Huong recalled the tradition of the HYPB over the past seven decades. Since its establishment with only five members in Na Ma village, Truong Ha commune, Ha Quang district, Cao Bang province on May 15, 1941, the HYPB has grown up strongly under the leadership of the Party and President Ho Chi Minh.
She stressed that together with their peers nationwide, Hanoi teenagers have made great contributions to the national construction with outstanding movements such as “Lam ke hoach nho xay dung tuong dai Kim Dong” (Doing small plans for the building of the Kim Dong Statute), “Di tim dia chi do” (Finding red addresses), “Ao lua tang ba” (Presenting silk blouse to grandmother), and “Nhung vien gach hong” (The red bricks).
These movements later spread nationwide, motivating children to take part in meaningful activities.
At present, Hanoi has nearly 800,000 schoolchildren with more than 500,000 of them are HYPB members, she added.
On the occasion, Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Pham Quang Nghi presented the Labour Order, third class, to the Council of the HYPB Hanoi and certificates of merit to 70 outstanding people with excellent achievements in HYPB affairs and teenagers’ movements in the 2008-2011 period./.
