Hanoi (VNA) – Secretary of Hanoi’s Party Committee Hoang Trung Hai has highly valued the important role of the Vietnam News Agency (VNA) in providing information for people in and outside the nation, including those in Hanoi.

VNA news and publications have helped people grasp multi-dimensional information about political and socio-economic situation of the country in general and Hanoi in particular, Hai said while visiting the agency on June 15 on the occasion of the 92nd Vietnamese Revolutionary Journalism Day (June 21).

He affirmed that during the development process, Hanoi has always received the support and contribution from VNA staff as the agency’s information helps locals understand more about policies of the Party and State and the city’s policies and missions, and transmit locals’ aspirations and difficulties to municipal authorities.

The Secretary expressed his belief that in the time to come, VNA will continue promoting its tradition to contribute more to the nation building and safeguarding process.

VNA General Director Nguyen Duc Loi thanked Hanoi authorities for their assistance to VNA journalists.

He told the guest that VNA will continue working to be a national multi-media group in order to contribute more to the nation.

The State-owned VNA is a major news agency in Southeast Asia with more than 1,300 reporters and editors, and a network of representative offices in all 63 cities and provinces of Vietnam and 30 in foreign countries. Besides the five main editorial departments, it runs a TV channel called the V-News, an online newspaper VietnamPlus in five languages, and various publications.

Under the cooperation agreement with Hanoi for 2012-2016, VNA published more than 24,000 news stories about the capital city in various media forms and in various languages, covering the latest developments across the fields in the city.
