Hanoi (VNA) – Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Nguyen Quoc Hung met with visiting Belarusian Deputy Prime Minister Igor Lyashenko on September 24, affirming that the Vietnamese capital pledges favourable conditions for cooperation with the European nation.

Deputy PM Lyashenko said with a long-standing friendship with Belarus, Vietnam is also an important Asian partner and a leading gateway for his country to enter ASEAN markets.

In the recent past, agencies at all levels and businesses of the two countries have organised regular delegation exchanges to share experience and boost cooperation for common development.

Meanwhile, bilateral trade has grown considerably over the past year but yet to match its potential, he noted.

Lyashenko added his working visit this time aims to consolidate the time-tested friendship and work towards new-style partnerships, including the formation of production joint ventures to meet both sides’ demand such as in truck manufacturing and assembly in Vietnam.

Welcoming the Deputy PM’s visit, Hung highlighted that bilateral relations have obtained many achievements, but potential hasn’t been fully tapped into.

Basing on the connections with Minsk capital, Hanoi will expand ties with other Belarusian localities which have strengths in manufacturing industries, especially truck making, he said.

As Hanoi is focusing on infrastructure development, the import and production of transportation machinery and equipment plays a crucial role, the Vice Chairman said, adding with the existing cooperation in transferring machinery and equipment manufacturing technologies, the two sides will expand their ties to many other spheres.

The host official expressed his belief that the Belarusian Deputy PM’s visit will help promote the country’s concrete and practical collaboration with Hanoi in the time to come./.
