Hanoi promotes craft village tourism in Phu Xuyen district

Hanoi (VNA) – The Hanoi Department of Tourism in collaboration with Phu Xuyen district People’s Committee on April 26 organised a meeting to boost link between travel businesses and tourism destinations in order to promote craft village tourism in the city.

Phu Xuyen district is often called the land of crafts with many of them holding a long history such as Chuyen My mother-of-pearl inlaying, Dai Nghiep fine art carpentry, Phu Tuc knitting, among others. All the 154 villages and residential areas in the district have their own crafts, of which 43 have been recognised by the city and have strong footholds in the hearts of consumers both home and abroad.

Many craft villages have high characteristics such as knitting grass craft (11); mother-of-pearl inlaying and lacquering (eight); garment, embroidery, cotton raking (five), incense making (one), figurine craf (one).

Not only consumed throughout the country, traditional handicraft products of Phu Xuyen are also exported worldwide.

Currently, Chuyen My and Van Tu rattan craft village of the district have been recognised as tourist destinations by the municipal People's Committee.

Vice Chairman of Phu Xuyen District People's Committee Nguyen Manh Huy said in the period of 2025 – 2030, the district strives to become one of the key of Hanoi's craft village tourism, turning tourism into a spearhead economic sector, contributing to economic restructuring, generating jobs for locals while creating a driving force to promote socio-economic development.

In addition, the district has 112 recoganised historical sites with a number of scenic spots, historical sites, communal houses, temples, and pagodas which hold significant cultural values such as Museum of revolutionary soldiers imprisoned by the enemy in Nam Trieu commune, Rang pagoda in Quang Lang commune, Kim Quy communal house in Minh Tan commune, the communal house of Da Chat village, the temple of Princess A Lanh and General Van Bong in Phu Xuyen township...

Deputy Director of Hanoi Department of Tourism Tran Trung Hieu said that the city has always supported and created favourable conditions to help Phu Xuyen district to upscale its tourism development, contributing to creating high-quality tourist destination of the city while connecting with travel businesses to build appropriate tourism product packages to attract visitors.

At the meeting, travel businesses shared ideas and measures to support tourist destinations in Phu Xuyen in order to help the district improve service quality, thereby connecting with travel businesses in the city to build typical and attractive tourism programmes./.
