The move comes after the establishment of associations aimed at promoting friendship with foreign countries in the city’s towns and districts by the Hanoi Union of Friendship Organisations on June 25.
The associations aim to enhance solidarity, friendship and cooperation between Hanoi organisations and individuals and international friends.
The union will firstly work with the municipal Fatherland Front Central Committee to organise meetings with people of foreign countries in Hoan Kiem and Tu Liem districts and Son Tay town.
From now until the end of the year, the union will partner with districts to host people-to-people diplomacy training courses.
There will be a range of activities, including setting up a club of foreigners speaking Vietnamese and a Latin American club in Hanoi and organising a meeting and exchanges celebrating the 40 th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Vietnam and other countries.
Since the start of the year, the union has successfully launched peace, friendship, protocol, foreign relations, communication and humanitarian activities.-VNA
