Hanoi rolls out public bicycle-sharing service

Residents in Vietnam’s capital Hanoi can now make use of a public bicycle-sharing service in its inner districts.

The service is being provided by the Tri Nam Group Joint Stock Company. Some 90 rental stations have been established, with 1,000 bicycles available.

Renters are required to install the TN Go app on their smartphones and register for an account to use the service. The fee is just 5,000 VND (22 US cents) per 30 minutes.

Hanoi is the sixth location in Vietnam to introduce a bicycle-sharing service, joining HCM City, Ba Ria-Vung Tau, Hai Phong, Hai Duong, and Binh Dinh.

The model, which helps diversify public transport offerings, limit the number of private vehicles on the street, reduce traffic congestion, and protect the environment, has been warmly welcomed by both local people and visitors./.
