Hanoi (VNA) – Chairman of the People’s Committee of Hanoi Tran Sy Thanh on December 6 received visiting Mayor of Gold Coast city in Australia’s Queensland State, Tom Tate, who suggested a number of areas with good potential for bilateral cooperation such as education, environment and tourism.

The Gold Coast mayor particularly called for more cultural exchanges to promote mutual understanding and trust between the two peoples, creating an important premise for the growth of the bilateral ties.

For his part, Thanh highly valued the developing partnership between Vietnam and Australia as well as Hanoi’s relations with some Australian states. He underlined Hanoi’s interest in expanding cooperation with other Australian localities, including Gold Coast city.

Agreeing with Tate on potential cooperation areas between the two cities, Thanh noted that those areas are of Hanoi’s interest during the implementation of its urban development strategy, especially in technology, wastewater treatment and circular economy. Thanh emphasised that along with its advantages in workforce, Hanoi also has many high technology firms with full capacity for international cooperation.
