Hanoi supports human resources development serving tourism
Hanoi (VNA) - The Hanoi Department of
Tourism will support human resources development to meet tourism recovery
requirements in the capital city, according to director of the department Dang
Huong Giang.
The issue is considered one of the key tasks of the
municipal tourism sector now that local travel agencies are seeking to
resume their activities.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, many firms had to stop operating. Most of the workers in the industry, especially at travel and
transportation businesses, have temporarily quit and changed jobs, causing a
sharp decrease in the number of labourers. Over 95 percent of travel businesses
and agents have closed or suspended their operations.
For accommodation establishments, about 1,550 establishments temporarily halted
their operation or changed occupations, causing nearly 21,500 labourers to lose their job temporarily
The department of
Tourism as well as relevant authorities need to support human resource training, said Truong Quoc Hung, President of the UNESCO Travel Club of Hanoi.
Last year, it coordinated with a number of universities and the Vietnam National
Administration of Tourism (VNAT) under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and
Tourism to organise three training courses for 369 people who were working in
State management in the field at all levels, and human resources
serving in the sector in the city
In addition to human resources development, the department will continue to support businesses and employees by proposing
authorities to develop policies on reducing taxes, land rents, and interest rates; and rescheduling debts and payment of social insurance, according to officials, adding that tt will also help travel firms promote their tourism products and recognition of brands through
events and festivals, media channels, websites, fanpages of the the city; and develop
new tourism products and models./.
