Hanoi (VNA)– Hanoi has set a target of earning about 12.7 billion USD from exports in2018, a rise of about 8 percent over the previous year.

To this end, thecapital city will continue speeding up administrative reform, focusing on strengtheningIT application in administrative procedure settlement.

Meanwhile, the citywill design policies to improve production and exports, while enhancingcompetitiveness of local enterprises and foster labour supply-demandconnections, and attracting more investment in infrastructure development andservices.

The municipal People’sCommittee has assigned the Hanoi Department of Taxation to coordinate withrelevant agencies to implement projects in modernising tax management andapplying IT in all stages and steps of tax management in order to createfavourable conditions for enterprises, ensuring transparency and reduce cost.

The Hanoi Customs wasasked to pilot a management and supervision system of goods transported throughNoi Bai International Airport, measure clearance time for import-export goods, andconduct a survey on enterprises’ satisfaction in 2018.

The city will alsoissue certificates of origin (C/O) through its online public services, whilejoining the national and ASEAN one-door mechanism in granting C/O in line withcommitments of the Government to ASEAN.

The city will also applymeasures to increase business’ access to credit by connecting them with banksand credit institutions, while holding training courses to upgrade enterprises withinformation on foreign markets, free trade agreements and new policies and lawsrelated to import-export activities.

As of the end of thefirst quarter of 2018, Hanoi’s industrial production expanded 8.5 percent, arise of 3.4 percent year on year. Total retail and service revenue wasestimated at 617.49 billion VND (27.16million USD), up 12.4 percent year on year. The city’s exports fetched 155million USD, up 16.9 percent year on year, while social investment attraction rose9.5 percent.

Transparent business environment appealing to foreign investors

During the first half of 2025, the total registered FDI reached 21.51 billion USD, up 32.6% year-over-year. This includes 9.3 billion USD in new investments, down 9.6%; 8.95 billion USD in additional capital for existing projects, a 2.2-fold increase; and 3.28 billion USD through capital contributions and share purchases, up 73.6%.
