Hanoi (VNA) – Hanoi authorities have directed its enterprises to seek and buy goods from other localities nationwide to ensure the full supply of goods for residents during the lunar New Year festival, according to the municipal Department of Industry and Trade.

At a working session on December 29 with Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Do Thang Hai, the department reported that local enterprises have stocked up 21.61 trillion VND (950.84 million USD) worth of essential commodities for the holiday.

The businesses will sell essential products at 1,165 outlets across the city, doubling the number of the same period in 2014.

From now to the lunar New Year, 179 mobile fairs will be organized in 18 suburb districts and industrial and processing zones.

The Lunar New Year is the most important holiday for Vietnamese, and also the biggest shopping season during the year. This year, the Lunar New Year falls on February 8.-VNA
