Hanoi (VNA) - The area around But (brush) Tower at Hoan Kiem Lake in the heart of the capital will be lit up green at 8 pm on March 16 in response to Ireland’s “Global Greening” campaign, which aims to raise public awareness of environmental protection.
At 1 pm the same day, organisers of the campaign in Hanoi will hold the“Ireland Day” to observe the country’s national holiday, St Patrick’s Day (March 17).
The event will feature cultural activities and art performances of Ireland and its culture to the Vietnamese public.
Ireland’s Global Greening initiative started in 2010 and is now a firm feature of St. Patrick’s Day around the world. On the day, hundreds of iconic landmarks, such as the Empire State building in New York, the US and the Great Wall of China, turn green to encourage environmental protection.
