Jakarta comes in second overall, followed by the Egyptian resort of Sharm el-Sheikh and another Asian capital, Bangkok.

Rounding out the top five is Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria. Meanwhile, Cape Town in South Africa, the sole African nation in the rankings, was listed as the sixth cheapest city.
