Hanoi urged to quicken first urban railway route

Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai has urged Hanoi authorities and contractors to work together more closely to ensure the completion of the city’s first overhead urban railway route by 2015.

Deputy PM Hai and officials of relevant ministries and agencies made afield trip to inspect the progress of the project on December 28.

The contractors have been constructing fundamental facilitiessupporting the 14.5km railway route, between Cat Linh street in theinner Dong Da district and Ha Dong in the outlying Ha Dong district.

They have finished 279 out of 434 bridge buttresses and 70 among 112 posts of the terminals.

During the trip, Deputy PM Hai asked the stakeholders to deploy allmeans to complete the route in September, 2015 and put it into operationin December.

Japan is the main investor of the project, which is expected to aid Hanoi’s integration and economic growth.-VNA

Two wanted for abusing religious cover to undermine national unity policy

The fugitives are Di (also known as Siu Di), born in 1941, and Dinh Yum (also known as Dinh Jum or Ba Koih), born in 1963, from Ba Na ethnic minority group in Gia Lai province, and hold Vietnamese nationality. They have been charged under Clause 1, Article 116 of the Penal Code for undermining the national unity policy.

Support delivered to Khmer households for traditional New Year

The province's delegation of National Assembly deputies, in coordination with relevant agencies, presented 600 gifts across 11 communes, including 100 in Tap Son commune and 50 in each of the others. The programme, worth 300 million VND (11,300 USD), was funded by Agribank’s Vinh Long branch.
