Hanoi wears "new coat" to welcome 13th National Party Congress

It’s just a week away from the opening of the 13th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam. The capital Hanoi has been decked out in flags, banners, and panels in celebration of the upcoming Congress. Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Chu Xuan Dung said that as of January 19, decorations for the event had been basically completed in districts, communes, and townships, including along major streets and the headquarters of centrally-run and Hanoi agencies. Agencies, units, hospitals, schools and households were asked to fly the national flag from January 15 to February 14. To date, most of streets in Hanoi are decorated with colourful flowers and flags to welcome the upcoming 13th National Party Congress. Flowers and plants were also arranged in major areas. Before, during, and after the Congress, Hanoi has been deploying thousands of officers and soldiers from the Hanoi Public Security and the municipal High Command to ensure security and safety. The municipal Health Department is spraying disinfectant inside and outside the My Dinh National Stadium and outlining COVID-19 prevention and control plans at different levels. Big size panels and slogans are shown in the city’s main streets and crossroads to welcome the important political event.  The content and working agenda of the 13th Congress will focus on reviewing the implementation of the 12th Congress’s Resolution in association with the assessment of the 35-year renewal, 30 years of implementing the 1991 Platform, 10 years of implementing the 2011 Platform (amended) and the 2011-2020 socio-economic development strategy, while setting out the socio-economic development orientations and tasks for 2021 - 2025, as well as the goals and orientations for 2030 and the national development vision to 2045. Previously, in order to serve the 13th National Party Congress, the People's Committee of Hanoi assigned the municipal Department of Construction to coordinate with relevant agencies to review the city’s preparation work for the congress, including embellishing the urban areas, improving lighting systems, and environmental sanitation, among others. Decorations for the event have been basically completed in districts, communes, and townships, including along major streets and the headquarters of centrally-run and Hanoi agencies. Trucks carrying heavy loads and passenger coaches will be prohibited from traveling through a number of roads in the capital city during the 13th National Party Congress. In a bid to ease traffic flow for the important political event, lorries carrying 500kg and more and coaches with 24 passengers or above will be banned from running on certain streets. Hanoi appears to be more resplendent and colourful than ever to welcome the most important and significant political event of the year.  The public security force nationwide has entered the 'new ready' status to protect security and safety of the Congress. They will stay on duty at the highest level in all units and localities.
