Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai on August 1 pressed the “start” button on construction of a 12.1 km long road section that links Nhat Tan bridge with the Noi Bai international airport.
The project has been designed to cut across two highways and decongest busy traffic in two major crossroads along the North Thang Long road, the main road from inner Hanoi to the largest airport in the north.
The 245 million USD project will get funding from the Japanese official development assistance through the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
Transport Minister Ho Nghia Dung said the project is expected to contribute to boosting economic growth and increasing competitiveness in the international market for Hanoi capital and the rest of northern Vietnam .
The first of the project’s bidding packages, which kicked off in Dong Anh district of Hanoi on August 1, includes a 1.1 km road stretch, a 400 m railway flyover and a 290 m overpass./.
