Hanoi’s beauty during leaf changing season

The leaves of loc vung (Barringtonia acutangula) trees on streets of Hanoi have changed to red and yellow, creating an European-like scene.

The leaves of loc vung (Barringtonia acutangula) trees on streets of Hanoi have over recent weeks changed to red and yellow, creating an European-like scene.

Between mid-Feb and March, Loc Vung trees around  Hoan Kiem Lake in Hanoi begin shedding their leaves. Before trees shed their leaves, all of the green leaves turn yellow and red. The leaves change colour very quickly. Within several weeks, the leaves change from green to yellow and green buds emerge.

Hanoi is in the nicest time of spring when trees are budding, flowers are blooming in full. Thank to the “one million trees project”, the Loc Vung trees have helped to create a romantic scene for the capital city.

Together with historical sites, unique cuisines, green trees and beautiful landscapes are crucial factors helping attract more tourists to the city in recent years.-VNA
