Hanoi’s CPI slightly increases in June

Hanoi ’s consumer price index (CPI) in June rose by 0.21 percent over the previous month, according to the city’s Statistics Office.

As a result, the six-month CPI increased by 9.44 percent compared to the same period last year with an average monthly rise of 0.84 percent.

Nine out of 11 groups, except transportation; housing, electricity, water, fuel; and construction materials, slightly increased.

Commodities which saw the highest price increases include catering services, beverages and cigarettes with 0.51 percent and 0.72 percent, respectively.

According to experts, the increase in June’s CPI was attributed to the high prices of raw food and vegetables due to the bad weather and the imbalance between production and consumption as well as the impacts of the world’s unstable prices.

Gold prices in June rose by 3.66 percent while US dollar dropped 0.08 percent against the previous month./.
