Hanoi ’s consumer price index (CPI) in February rose 1.45 percent against last month, representing a year-on-year increase of 15.64 percent.
Among 11 commodity groups, only post and telecom services remained unchanged, with rises in prices of housing, electricity, water, fuel and construction material group (2.79 percent) and the group of restaurant and restaurant services (2.32 per cent).
According to economic experts, the CPI rise was due to increases in prices of housing, electricity, water, fuel, construction material and restaurant services, the price hike of gas from Feb. 1 and the demand for foods after the traditional New Year festival.
The price for pure gold was up 0.34 percent in comparison with January, but 9.37 percent over the same period last year.
Meanwhile, the price of the US dollar decreased 0.12 percent in comparison with the previous month and 1.06 percent against the same period of 2011./.
