HCM City (VNA) – Ho Chi Minh City’s Customs Department has begun piloting the use of the VietnamAutomated System for Seaport Customs Management at Lotus Port in District 7 andSP-ITC International Container Terminal in District 9.
Nguyen HuuHiep, deputy head of the department, said the system would help import andexport companies simplify paper procedures with transport firms and customsagencies, and reduce costs and customs clearance time.
Thesystem will also help customs agencies closely monitor imports and exports, andprevent fraud and smuggling, he said.
By theend of the first quarter of the year, the department will also begin using thesystem at Phuoc Long ICD Port and the Saigon Cargo Service Corporation warehousein Tan Son Nhat International Airport.
Thesystem will be used at all customs agencies beginning in the second quarter ofthe year. The city is the first locality in southern Vietnam to implement thesystem.
In December,the northern city of Hai Phong began using the system.-VNA
