HCM City, Can Tho to host int’l tennis events for youths

The U18 International Tennis Federation’s (ITF) Group 5 tournaments in 2014 will be organised in Ho Chi Minh City and the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho this month.
The U18 International Tennis Federation’s (ITF) Group 5 tournaments in2014 will be organised in Ho Chi Minh City and the Mekong Delta city ofCan Tho this month.

According to organisers in HCM City, theevent will see the participation of players from 20 countries andterritories, including the US, the UK, Russia, India, Australia andPakistan.

Vietnam ITF U18 tournament will be held at the Bai CatSports Complex in Can Tho city from July 5-13, while ITF Junior Circuitat Ho Chi Minh City’s Phu Tho Sports Centre from July 12-20.

Competitorsfrom 13-18 years of age will fight in four events: men’s singles,women’s singles, men’s doubles and women’s doubles.

Vietnam willsend almost all of its leading young players to the events, which areconsidered a good chance for them to learn from foreign rivals.

Thebest international sport events for young tennis players, thetournaments are organised by member countries of the InternationalTennis Federation.-VNA

Vietnamese sports delegation leaves for ASIAD 20 in Japan

The Vietnamese delegation comprises 496 members, including athletes, coaches, experts, officials, doctors and medical staff. The teams will depart in several groups depending on their competition schedules, with the largest group expected to leave on September 16. The squad has set a target of winning at least four gold medals at ASIAD 20.
