The Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations and the Vietnam-China Friendship Association in Ho Chi Minh City on September 27 held a ceremony to mark the 64th anniversary of China’s National Day (October 1).

Addressing the event, President of the association Duong Quan Ha stressed that Vietnam and China hold a time-honoured and neighbourly relationship, which is reflected through regular visits and exchanges by the two countries’ high-ranking leaders.

Ho Chi Minh City has also closely cooperated with China’s offices in the city, especially the Chinese General Consulate.

The two sides have worked effectively with each other in social, charitable and cultural activities, and in the city’s poverty reduction programmes, contributing to increasing mutual understanding between their peoples, as well as further developing the countries’ friendship, Ha said.

Chinese Consul General Cai Wen Rui said that the two nations’ exchanges and cooperation in the fields of politics, economics, culture, science, technology and education have been strengthened over the past years.-VNA
