The Cambodian, Lao, Thai and Myanmar communities gathered at a festival in Ho Chi Minh City on April 11 to celebrate their traditional New Years - the Chol Chnam Thmay, Bunpimay, Thingyan and Songkran.
The event, jointly held by the municipal chapters of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Associations (VUFO) and the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, drew the participation of leaders of the city and representatives of the General Consulates of Cambodia , Laos , Thailand and India in the city.
Participants had a chance to enjoy traditional festive activities and art performances of the countries.
On behalf of the Ho Chi Minh City people, Huynh Minh Tien, Vice President of the municipal VUFO chapter, extended best New Year wishes to the Cambodian, Lao, Thai and Myanmar friends.
He said he hopes through this cultural activity, the friendship and mutual understanding between Vietnam and neighbouring countries will be strengthened, thus further consolidating the sound relationship among them.-VNA
