Vietnam ’s southern economic hub of Ho Chi Minh City holds great potential for fostering cooperation with the Czech Republic in education and health, particularly in tumour treatment, orthopaedics and obstetrics.
Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee Le Hoang Quan made the statement at a reception on October 31 for visiting Vice President of the Czech Senate Miluse Horska, adding that the city is now Vietnam ’s centre for education and health with more than 110 universities and colleges and many major hospitals.
He said that Ho Chi Minh City wants to intensify cooperation with Czech localities, especially in the fields that the country holds advantages.
Quan said he hopes the Vice President will create all possible conditions for Ho Chi Minh City to be twinned with the Czech Republic ’s Prague city.
Miluse Horska said that the two countries now not only focus on economics but also expand ties into the cultural field and further their traditional friendship through specific activities.
With much progress in healthcare and education-training, the Czech Republic is willing to enhance ties with the city in these fields, she added.-VNA
