Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee Nguyen Huu Tin and Consul General of the Republic of Korea (RoK) Park Noh Wan had a working session on June 18 to discuss measures to boost cooperation between the city and RoK localities.

During the meeting, Deputy Chairman Tin briefed the guest on the results of cooperation between HCM City and the RoK city of Busan as well as the cooperation agreements recently signed with Daegu city.

He proposed a periodic meeting every three months between the two sides in order to review the cooperation process and resolve existing difficulties.

The city’s authorities will create favourable conditions for RoK investors and businesses, as well as protect the legitimate rights of the 70,000-80,000 Korean citizens living in the city in accordance with Vietnamese law and regulations, Tin affirmed.

For his part, Consul General Park Noh Wan said the RoK is willing to share experience in developing the support industry, which is considered one of the country’s strengths.

A number of RoK small- and medium-sized enterprises have showed their interest in investing in the field, he added.

The Consul General also informed that an RoK delegation of leaders from several ministries and agencies will come to discuss the city’s Metro Line No. 5 project with Vietnam’s Ministry of Planning and Investment late this month.-VNA
