Ho Chi Minh City wants to cooperate with Sweden in coping with climate change, Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Le Hoang Quan has said.

Addressing a seminar on green solutions held in the city on Oct. 1, which was attended by Swedish environmental experts and representatives of 25 companies and organisations working in green technology, Chairman Quan said cooperation with Sweden will help ensure the city’s socio-economic development.

According to Swedish Ambassador to Vietnam Rolf Bergman, thanks to green technology and effective environmental protection programmes, Sweden’s economy has grown by 44 percent, in contrast, gas exhaust causing the greenhouse effect has been reduced by 9 percent.

Increasing cooperation between Vietnam and Sweden for sustainable development is a worthwhile endeavour, he said.

The seminar, co-organised by the HCM City People’s Committee and the Swedish Embassy in Vietnam, is part of activities to mark the 40th anniversary of Vietnam-Sweden diplomatic ties./.
