The Ho Chi Minh University of Medicine and Pharmacy and the San Francisco – HCM City Sister City Friendship Committee have inked a cooperation agreement on liver diseases prevention and treatment with the International Liver Foundation for Vietnam .

The programme includes education campaigns on different liver diseases, collection and analysis of data on liver disease infections, and results of vaccination and treatment.

Addressing the signing ceremony on October 18, the US Consul General in HCM City Le Thanh An said the deal not only helps protect domestic medical staff from being infected with hepatitis virus but also raises public awareness of the danger of liver diseases.

The US Centres for Disease Control and Prevention is providing the Vietnamese government with technical assistance, in a bid to enhance the country’s capacity in testing, diagonising, preventing and treating viral hepatitis.-VNA
