HCM City (VNA) – The Ho Chi Minh City Union ofFriendship Organisations (HUFO) held a gathering on August 16 celebrating the NationalDay of Hungary (August 20).

Speaking at the event, Chairman of the municipal chapter of theVietnam – Hungary Friendship Association Le Minh Triet said relationshipbetween the city and Hungary is growing, with many projects bringing practicalbenefits to both sides.

He said the association will continue working closely withthe Consulate General of Hungary in Ho Chi Minh City to launch cooperationprojects, thus bolstering effective ties between the city and Hungarianlocalities.

Hungarian Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City Baloghdi Tiborexpressed his delight at the development of friendship between Hungary andVietnam, including Ho Chi Minh City, especially in economy, culture, educationand tourism.

He said the Hungarian government pays attention to boostingeducation – training ties with Vietnam and will continue providing full scholarshipsfor Vietnamese students and trainees each year, one-third of which will be forthose in Ho Chi Minh City and southern localities.

The diplomat also expressed his wish to welcome moreVietnamese students in Hungary in the near future.

Participants were updated about Hungary’s current educationsystem, scholarship programmes for Vietnamese students, and discussedorientations for bilateral education activities.-VNA

452 lawmakers, or 94.56% of the total number of deputies present, voted in favour the revised Law on Corporate Income Tax, while the amended Excise Tax Law was adopted with 448 out of 454 deputies present voting in favour, accounting for 93.72% of the total.

The Vietnamese leader proposed Uppsala University establish a partnership with a national university in Vietnam; strengthen collaboration in education, research, and academic exchanges with Vietnamese institutions; and offer scholarships to Vietnamese students and researchers, thus advancing the newly established sectoral strategic partnership in science, technology, and innovation between the two countries.
