A memorandum of understanding (MoU) establishing friendship and cooperation between Ho Chi Minh City and China’s Guangxi province was signed on June 11 by HCM City People’s Committee Vice Chairman Hua Ngoc Thuan and Chen Xiaoqin, Vice Chairman of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.

The MoU states that the two localities will work together in the fields of science and technology, tourism, culture, education, environmental protection, sports, healthcare, urban planning and trade.

The leaders of the two localities will frequently exchange visits, as will the heads of relevant agencies and departments, to work together and deal with issues of mutual concern.

The cooperation is expected to promote development in both localities and further deepen the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Vietnam and China .

Earlier, HCM City People’s Committee Chairman Le Hoang Quan received a visiting delegation from Guangxi province, led by the s ecretary of the region’s Party Committee Peng Qinghua.

Quan congratulated Guangxi on its strong development in recent years, declaring that the delegation’s visit has contributed to the enhancement of strategic relations between Vietnam and China and between Guangxi and HCM City .

At the reception, both leaders stated their belief that the establishment of formal cooperative relations between the two regions will lead to a new period of development and allow individuals and enterprises in both localities to improve their economic partnerships and opportunities for cultural exchange.-VNA
