Professional international belly dancers Angela Kim from the Republic of Korea, Julia Torgonkar from Ukraine and Daila Klara Jansikova from the Czech Republic will take part in the second Vietnam Belly Dance Festival in HCM City from July 10 to 12.
According to the organiser Saigon Belly Dance, the festival's competition is open to all amateur and professional dancers. It is being held at SC Vivo City Shopping Mall in District 7 on July 11-12.
It is expected to be attended by 70 Vietnamese and international contestants who will be competing with 40 solo and group performances.
Kim is a Master Teacher who has been a judge at competitions in the Republic of Korea, Singapore, Argentina and China.
Torgonkar, head of the Isadora Group, was on the organising committee for the projects Isadora Cup, Dream and Dance, and Crazy Bazaar.
Torgonkar won the championship at the Belly Fusions Festival held in France in 2012.
Jansikova is a seven-time champion of the Czech National Belly Dance Championships, and three-time World Belly Dance Champion.
The artists, in addition to being judges at the Vietnam event, will advise and train competitors.
The winner of the professional solo category will be granted a Full Package Workshop scholarship and have a chance to attend Festival Munique Neith 2015 to start in Penang, Malaysia on July 18.
The festival will also offer an eclectic programme of workshops over three days, July 10-12, at Saigon Belly Dance, 94-96 Road No 2, District 3.
Kim will lecture on Arabic Pop, Mejancy, and Crazy Drum; Torgonkar on Sparkling Mejancy, Samba Drum Solo, and Oriental lyrical songs; and Jansikova on Belly Bolly Fusion Tango Oriental.-VNA
