– Nguyen Thien Nhan, Politburo member and Secretary of Ho Chi Minh City’s Party Committee, on June 19 hosted a reception for outgoing German Ambassador to Vietnam Christian Berger.

He applauded the diplomat’s contributions to promoting cooperation between Vietnam and Germany, citing the completion of the German House, effective bilateral educational cooperation and the construction of metro Line No. 2 in the city during his tenure in the Southeast Asian nation.

The official pledged to address remaining issues in the bilateral ties and urged the envoy to contribute more to the Vietnam-Germany relationship in the time ahead.

For his part, Christian Berger said the above-mentioned projects have contributed to consolidating the Vietnam-Germany strategic partnership.

He committed to working with his successor to push ahead with the implementation of the ongoing projects, and encouraging German businesses to invest in new projects in Vietnam and Ho Chi Minh City in particular.-VNA
