Ho Chi Minh City and France’s Lyon city would expand their cooperation beyond the established area of urban lighting to urban management, environmental protection, culture and economics.

Vice Chairwoman of the HCM City People’s Committee Nguyen Thi Hong and visiting Deputy Mayor of Lyon Gilles Buna shared the view during their meeting in the city on September 20.

Hong said she hopes Lyon will continue assisting the Vietnamese southern economic hub in installing artistic lighting works at historical and cultural sites.

She said Lyon’s past cooperation has helped HCM City promote the value of a number of historical and cultural sites, enticing foreign tourists on their visit to the city.

Gilles Buna said the two cities’ cooperation in urban lighting over the past 15 years has brought encouraging results and pledged that his city will press ahead with assistance for future projects in HCM City.

A Lyon-designed artistic lighting project at the HCM City Central Post Office is scheduled to start shining on September 22. This is part of activities to celebrate 40 years of Vietnam – France diplomatic ties.-VNA
