A special cultural programme at the park in front of the ReunificationPalace on Le Duan Street in District 1 is expected to include 4,000amateur and professional performers on April 30.

The outdoorsevent titled Dat Nuoc Tron Niem Vui (Joyful Country), organised by theCity's Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and its partners, willinclude dozens of music and theatre performances.

Children willbe treated to puppet and circus performances staged for free by theVietnam Circus Union at Gia Dinh Park on Hoang Minh Giam Street in GoVap District.

The performers will offer circus, puppetry,and other art performances. They will present enchanting stories set inthe world of dreams for love and peace.

The show has beenstaged for three nights from April 26 till April 28 at cultural housesin the rural districts of Cu Chi, Binh Chanh and Hoc Mon.

Primary and secondary students are encouraged to participate in acultural trip launched by the City's Children's House this week.

Thetwo-day trip called Em La Chien Si Nho Giai Phong Quan (I'm a LittleLiberation Soldier) will offer tours to famous historic sites andmuseums around the city, including Nha Rong Wharf and Rung Sac GuerrillaBase.

Through their visits, young participants will learn moreabout the victories of Vietnamese people and army during their warsagainst the French and American.

Photo exhibitions have also beenorganised in cultural houses and museums to feature late President HoChi Minh and historic events during different periods of the country'srevolutionary process.

Theme parks and amusement centres, likeSuoi Tien and Dam Sen, are preparing for their business season, whichwill draw several hundreds of thousands of young people on the six-dayholiday, which begins tomorrow.

Live music and comedy shows and dragon dance performances will be highlighted.

To attract young customers, shopping centres and supermarkets are also holding promotions.

TheCo-opMart chain is offering various processed foods serving people fromall three regions – north, south and central Vietnam.

Dry foodstuff made from Bien Hoa, Nha Trang and Ben Tre agricultural products are among the strongest sellers.

Domestic products of clothing, shoes and accessories are selling like hotcakes.

"Thelead-up to the Reunification Day holiday has been marked with increasedconsumer spending at supermarkets and travelling," said a tourist guidewith Saigontourists, the City's leading tourist agency.

Like its competitors, Saigontourist has increased its domestic and foreign tours on the holiday to meet the demand of customers.-VNA

Australian veteran’s son returns diary of Vietnamese martyr

Entries in the diary show that Vo Van Cong was born in 1944 in the former Phuoc Tho commune, Nhon Trach district, Bien Hoa province, now Dong Nai province. He joined the revolutionary movement in April 1961 and was admitted to the Communist Party of Vietnam in May 1962.

Hanoi accelerates shift to green buses, targets 100% by 2030

In the 2027–2030 period, the city will accelerate the transition towards the complete phase-out of fossil fuel-powered buses. The share of electric and green energy-fueled buses is projected to reach 79–89% by 2029 and 100% by 2030.
