HCM City (VNA) – Ho Chi Minh City is ready to partner with the Chinese city of Chongqing to boost transport connectivity and tourism cooperation, to build smart cities and exchange experience in urban management, said a local official.

Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Huynh Cach Mang made the statement during a reception in Ho Chi Minh City on March 30 for Vice Mayor of Chongqing city Liu Gui Ping.

Mang said the two cities share similarities and have a lot of cooperation opportunities in the future, thus bringing benefits to both sides.

He lauded Chongqing’s goal of strengthening connectivity and cooperation that matches the viewpoint of the two countries’ Party and State leaders.

Liu, for his part, asked the city’s leaders to consider establishing friendly and cooperative relations with Chongqing to further promote exchanges and collaboration.

He expressed hope that both sides will step up economic connectivity, open up opportunities for fair cooperation, strengthen bilateral friendship, especially in infrastructure, transport connectivity, navigation, goods transportation, tourism and people-to-people diplomacy.-VNA
