The Investment and Trade Promotions Centre (ITPC) in HCM City has announced this year’s export promotion campaigns in the seven key markets of the US, Europe, Japan, Cambodia, Myanmar, China and Laos.

The centre will also conduct market surveys in Indonesia and the Philippines.

The ITPC will also organise business trips for businesses to visit exhibitions, fairs and conduct surveys overseas.

The city’s competitive export staples are footwear, garment and textiles and processed seafood, which are expected to make up 35 percent of its total export revenues over the next five years. They are followed by hi-tech products.

ITPC will also set up a database on export businesses and their products and organise a series of business meeting for domestic enterprises to meet foreign buyers in the food, furniture, handicraft, interior decoration, electricity-electronics, textiles and garments and footwear sectors .

The city will strengthen ties with several localities to help businesses access materials easier. It will also step up cooperation with international promoters and Vietnamese trade councils, consuls and embassies on the latest market information.

This year, the city plans to hold 12 meetings with state management agencies in its districts to improve production and business operations.

In addition, ITPC will hold more trade fairs in suburban areas, industrial parks and export processing zones to promote the domestic consumption of Vietnamese goods.

The Deputy Chairwoman of the HCM City People’s Committee Nguyen Thi Hong, said that ITPC should increase the quality and effectiveness of investment and trade promotion activities and professionalise its operations.-VNA
